I am an advertising student at the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication, and I am always reminded that I chose the right career path when I am watching something as simple as a commercial and I start to feel the hair on my arms stand up. The feeling steadily spreads to the back of my neck and I know I have goosebumps; goosebumps from an advertisement. Along with advertising, film has always been one of my passions. It started at a young age, as my cousins and I would tiptoe up the stairs and peer over the banister to catch a glimpse at whatever horror movie my dad and uncle had on. The one I remember most vividly is Victor Salva’s Jeepers Creepers. Not only did the movie send chills up my back that stayed with me as I crept back down the stairs, it filled me with tremendous excitement. For as long as I can remember, sitting back and joining a character world through visual storytelling in advertisements and film has been my favorite thing to do. As I am now entering the professional world, I get to take these passions and exercise them in my own creative pursuits.
